| [ Where's your faith at ..? ] I've heard it said that salvation is something we work out on a daily basis, its a continual battle. So if life is a battle why are we so complacent in our relationship with Jesus? I am guilty of being complacent in my relationship with Jesus and I could give you a million excuses as to why but I'd rather just give it to you straight. I'm 33 and up until recently I had started to look at church as a chore rather then a time to worship and come together with my friends in the faith. I was getting more out of God through music and those quiet private times I'd spend randomly throughout the day. You see for years I have been procrastinating going to Bible college and a few things that have happened in my life recently have caused me to take stock of where I am at and where I should be by now. "Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen." - Matt 21:21 If you stop to think about the possibilities behind that verse you cant help but be challenged in your faith. If there's one thing I can't stand its people who complain about there lives but do absolutely nothing to better themselves so I figure it's better to lead by example then to do what everyone else is doing. Because its only when we take our eyes off of Christ that we see circumstances and drama. Think about it .. When your in the presence of the Holy Spirit and you feel as if your one with God do you ever find yourself worrying about the issues in your life? Of course not .. your focus is right where it should be. When we stay focused on Christ all those little life issues seem to pale in comparison to the glory and the freedom found in our relationship with Jesus Christ. "Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be presistant in your prayers for all believers everywhere." - Ephesians 6:18 I think Paul has it right on the money in that verse .. Our focus needs to be on Christ at all times. When we lose focus we start to see recession, we see job cuts, we see terrorism, we see swine flu, but most of all we see hopelessness. I don't know about you but I'm more interested in what Christ has in store for me and for His people. I'm not saying your life will become perfect as you focus on Christ more but I can tell you this .. it will certainly be more interesting. So lets go! |
